Alena is a crucial team member on the finance & capital markets team within Berko & Associates. Prior to joining Berko, Alena was a financial analyst intern with Shamrock Development, a well-known Omaha, Nebraska developer with a focus on downtown redevelopment and new construction. While at Shamrock, Alena was one of a team of six people who worked on the mixed use $205 million Capitol District development. The Capitol District was the largest new development in Omaha’s history, and included 218 apartment units, a 333-room full service Marriott hotel, 90,000 SF of retail, 20,000 SF of office and a 505-stall parking garage.
Alena handled financial analysis for the Capitol District, created cash flow projections and worked with the contractor on payment schedules and approval of each stage of construction. Alena also managed the reporting to 72 foreign EB-5 visa investors who provided partial financing.
Alena’s passion for commercial real estate comes from her father, Ember Grummons, who is an investment sales broker in Omaha, NE with over 25 years in the industry. She currently holds a BSBA quadruple major in Real Estate & Land Use Economics, Business Finance, Banking & Financial Markets and Investment Science & Portfolio Management with a Spanish minor from the University of Nebraska Omaha. She speaks conversational Spanish and some Italian.
While in school, Alena ran a successful piano teaching business that acquired clients entirely through referrals. She also studied abroad in Florence, Italy where she studied studio art through London’s Richmond University.
